How You Can Help

Volunteer Opportunities

The success of the Florence Area Literacy Council depends on Volunteers, and we need you!

There are many volunteer opportunities available:
  • You can tutor an adult learner

  • Be an office volunteer
  • Work with small groups

  • Teach someone to speak the English language

  • Help with annual fundraising events

  • Assist the student recruitment by helping to distribute fliers and information about the literacy program

  • Assist the volunteer recruitment by helping to inform others in the community about our program.

Whatever time you have available, we can find a rewarding place for you at the Florence Area Literacy Council.
What our students have to say about our services...

“When I started coming to the Florence Area Literacy Council I was so happy knowing that someone or something was out there to help people like me to get this kind of service of wanting to complete my GED. When I started coming to the classes I  enjoyed it so much because the classes are very small and Mrs. Maribeth takes her time and breaks the work down for you so you can get a better understanding when she is teaching. You can work at your own pace.” J. A.

“… I am not alone in my situation and there is help from understanding people and instructors…”

“And I can make my own schedule, work at my own pace. It’s changed my life…. I really enjoy being in school. – Georgianna
